Prilog opisuje glagol i ostaje zamrznut: Govorim dobro. Odatle dolazi i tipična greška — staviti prilog u ženski rod: NETAČNO Govorim dobra, TAČNO Govorim dobro.

Want to say I speak Serbian well? Get one ending wrong and it stops sounding like Serbian. Let me show you the fix.

An adverb tells you how, when, or where something happens. Today we focus on adverbs of manner — the how — because they are the easiest to build once you know the trick.
-
Here is the core rule. To make an adverb of manner, take the adjective and use its neuter singular form. That form, ending in -o, becomes your adverb — and it never changes again.
-
Compare the two sides. An adjective changes to match its noun in gender and number. An adverb is frozen — one fixed form for every situation.
-
Take the adjective dobar, meaning good. Its neuter form is dobro, and that is also the adverb, well. Govorim dobro.
-
Same recipe with brz, meaning fast. The neuter form brzo is the adverb, quickly. Dođi brzo!
-
And once more with lep, meaning nice or beautiful. The neuter form lepo gives you the adverb, nicely. Lepo pevaš.
-
The pattern holds across the board. From tih, quiet, you get tiho, quietly. Notice the verb keeps its own ending — only the adverb stays fixed. Govori tiho.
-
Not every adverb comes from an adjective. A small set of everyday adverbs of time and place you simply learn as words. Time tells you when, place tells you where.
-
Here is one of those time adverbs in action. Uvek means always, and it sits comfortably before the verb. Uvek kasnim.
-
And a place adverb. Ovde means here, pinning down where the action is. Čekam ovde.
-
Now the big trap. Because the adverb came from an adjective, it is tempting to make it agree, like an adjective would. Don't. The adverb describes the verb, not a noun, so it never takes a feminine or plural ending.
-
Watch how that fixed form survives. The subject is feminine and plural, the verb changes — but the adverb dobro stays exactly the same. One peva dobro.
-
So remember it like this. Build an adverb of manner from the neuter adjective ending in -o, keep that form frozen no matter the subject, and learn the basic time and place adverbs as words.
